NNew legal battle in sight for Nicolas Sarkozy. The appeal trial of the former President of the Republic, his lawyer Thierry Herzog and the former high magistrate Gilbert Azibert, in the so-called “wiretapping” case, will be held from November 28 to December 14, 2022, a decided the Paris Court of Appeal, Monday, January 24.

Nicolas Sarkozy was sentenced at first instance to three years in prison, including one year, for corruption and influence peddling, an unprecedented decision for a former head of state. Thierry Herzog and Gilbert Azibert had been given the same sentence and had also appealed.
